Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother


       Waterbury- Catherine Mary “Katie” (Henebery) Tapley, 52, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2019.  

       Katie was born on October 20, 1966 in Waterbury. She was the eldest daughter of the late Francis J. Henebery and her mother Mary McCormack Jackman. She graduated from Scared Heart High School. Katie was a homemaker and what she enjoyed most was taking care of her loving and dedicated family and friends. Katie leaves her loving husband Gary Tapley who adored every moment of their 27 years of marriage. 

       Besides her mother of Waterbury, Katie leaves behind her beautiful twin daughters, Jennifer and Jessica Tapley both of Waterbury. Her greatest joy was her grandson Ayden, who made her smile and laugh every waking moment. She was an avid reader and a passionate sports fan as one of her favorite things was watching the Mets and rooting for a playoff hope every year with her husband Gary. There is nothing Katie enjoyed more than having Sunday dinners with her husband, daughters, and grandson. She was deeply caring, and thoughtful, and you could always count on her for a good laugh. Katie’s laugh and smile were infectious.  

       Katie was the oldest daughter of the “Henebery Sisters’”. She leaves behind three dedicated sisters and best friends:  Julie Turrell and her husband Robert of Wolcott, Susan Petrone and her husband David of Waterbury, and Amy Nole and her husband Joseph of Wolcott. She also leaves her in-laws Jim and Paulette Braddock, Larry and Kathy Tapley of Wolcott, Kerry Tapley and Lisa, Barry and Roxanne Tapley. She was predeaseced by Eldon and Shirley Tapley. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

       Funeral will be Saturday October 19, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St., for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Calling hours are Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
