WATERBURY - Claire Helen Martin, 64, of Waterbury, died unexpectedly on May 4, 2020.

She is survived by two daughters, Naomi Lee Terzo and Alysha Marie Johnson, both from Waterbury.  In addition, she is survived by two grandchildren, Joshua Spaulding and Alora Lima. Claire is also survived by four sisters and four brothers: Charles Martin (Kathy), Maureen Martin (Rob), Joan Martin (Geoff), John Martin (Gloria), Susan Nelson (Rick), Larry Martin (Lezel), Tommy Martin (Luckmi), and Ellie Martin. Claire was the youngest daughter of the late Eleanor and John F Martin, Sr.  Other survivors include several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Claire was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School, class of 1974, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut, a master’s degree from the University of New Haven and also became a licensed Phlebotomist.  She was employed for several years as a paralegal in Waterbury, and more recently, served as a substitute teacher in the Waterbury school system.

She always held an active interest in a range of political issues and loved to cook. While her large, surviving family are very saddened by her loss, they will forever hold a deep and lasting love of her memory, especially her infectious laugh.

Arrangements are being made by Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St.; a memorial service is yet to be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury, Inc.
