Eileen (Shea) Cavanaugh

      WATERBURY - Eileen (Shea) Cavanaugh, 95, formerly of the East Mountain section of Waterbury, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Wolcott View Manor in Wolcott.  She was the widow of Thomas B. Cavanaugh, a former Deputy Chief of the Waterbury Fire Department.
      Mrs. Cavanaugh was born in Waterbury, September 24, 1917 daughter of the late Timothy and Anna (Bresnahan) Shea and graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School. During World War II she worked as a secretary in Waterbury manufacturing and after the war raised her six children.  She later retired from Lewis Engineering in Naugatuck where she had worked for many years. She was an avid bowler at Perillo’s Bowl-O-Drome.  
      Mrs. Cavanaugh is survived by one daughter; Mary Ellen Squatriglia of Naugatuck, and four sons; James J. Cavanaugh, John E. Cavanaugh, Francis M. Cavanaugh, and Timothy F. Cavanaugh, all of Waterbury, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Corporal Thomas J. Cavanaugh, USMC, who died in Viet Nam in 1968.
      The funeral will be Friday January 4, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., Waterbury to S.S. Peter & Paul Church,
67 Southmayd Rd., for a Mass at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be in Old St. Joseph Cemetery.  Calling hours are Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
