          WATERBURY- Elsie Marie Ferrone, 99, of Store Ave. and formerly of 32 Taylor Street died Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Abbott Terrace Health Center in Waterbury.

          Elsie was born in Waterbury, September 9, 1922 daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (DeSocio) Ferrone and graduated from both Sacred Heart Grammar and High School.

          She worked at Kresge Company for 30 years and was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Parish and a current member of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. At Sacred Heart she was a member of the Young at Hearts, Altar and Rosary Society, Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Group and Our Lady’s Guild. Elsie also loved gardening and Interior decorating.

          Elsie is survived by her two nephews, Joseph Ferrone and Anthony Ferrone and his wife Joy, two great nephews, John Ferrone and his wife Ashley and their daughter, Olivia and Daniel Ferrone.

          She was predeceased by her four brothers, Michael, Henry and his wife Grace, William and Joseph and her two sisters, Teresa and Columbia.

          The Ferrone family would like to thank the staff at Abbott Terrace for the care that they provided to Elsie and also special thanks to Tim and Christine Watkins and family for all their help over the years.

          Funeral will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

          Those attending are requested to please wear a facemask while at the funeral home.
