Helen G. (Jones) Lavigne

          WATERBURY – Helen G. (Jones) Lavigne, 93, of Waterbury died Sunday May 31, 2020 at the VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She was the widow of her beloved husband Gaston L. Lavigne.

          Helen was born in Waterbury January 6, 1927 daughter of the late Sidney & Evelyn (Leclaire) Jones and was a lifelong resident of the city.  She formerly worked at G. Fox & Co., was a former Brownie Scout Leader, a member of the AARP in Prospect and a communicant of S.S. Peter & Paul Church and a former member of the Madonna Guild of the parish.

          Survivors include 3 daughters, Kathleen Flaherty and her husband George, Sharon Payton and Marylou Corcoran and her husband Robert, 8 grandchildren, Patti, George Jr. and his wife Tara, Colleen and her husband Brendan, Kelly, Shannon, Stacie and her husband Cory, Mollie and Kevin and 9 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Leslie Payton, 2 sisters, Lucy Norman and Evelyn Mastropietro and 2 brothers, Freddy and Sidney Jones.

          Graveside services will be held Friday June 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Cemetery, 203 Spring Lake Road.  The Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. is in charge of arrangements.
