       WATERBURY - James L. Sullivan, Jr., 85, of Waterbury died Monday, January 14, 2019 at his home.  He was the husband of Joan (Ploski) Sullivan.

       Jim was born in Waterbury, December 13, 1933 to James L. and Anne (Telesca) Sullivan and was a graduate of the local parochial school system and a graduate of LPS school of communications and theater in Boston, MA.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

       Jim spent forty years in the broadcast profession and was a number one rated morning and talk show host in Waterbury, New Haven and Bridgeport. He had a successful career in theater as both a director and actor locally, summer stock and Boston. He also appeared in several movies. Jim directed some thirty-five shows including award winning productions including Oliver and Man of La Mancha and as an actor for this portrayal of Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof. Jim was very active in the community serving as the General Chairman of Waterbury's first city wide July 4th celebration. He was chosen as the Elk's man of the year several times. Jim was an avid if not prolific golfer who played the The Waterbury Country Club for twenty-five years and played also at Western Hills Golf Course. Jim's resume includes in-depth interviews with over fifty Broadway and Hollywood stars.

       In addition to his wife Joan, Jim leaves a son, James L. Sullivan, III, a step-son, Robert Luciani and his wife Jennifer, 3 grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Brewer and Ryan and Liliana Luciani, a great grandson, Cole and a number of cousins.

       Jim’s family would like to thank Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care and Aging Better At Home, LLC for the care they provided.

       Funeral Mass will be held Friday January 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
