Jeffrey Stone Dawson passed away at Waterbury Hospital on Friday, September 14, 2018.  He was a beloved brother, uncle, friend, and musician.

Mr. Dawson was born on March 20, 1958 in Southington, Connecticut to the late Sherwood Louis and Elinor Wheeler Dawson.  He grew up in Plantsville and attended Southington High School, Southern Connecticut State University, and the University of Hartford, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and a masters degree in paralegal studies.  For the last eighteen years he resided in Watertown.

Mr. Dawson was a master guitarist and an accomplished songwriter, having played gigs at community centers and churches in and around Waterbury.  His wide-ranging catalogue included sentimental and poignant originals inspired by a life entirely lived in Southern New England, an abundance of choice folk, rock, Irish, and country covers, and Christmas carols.  He is survived by his brother Sherwood Louis Dawson, Jr. of Cheshire, sisters Barbara Dawson Burkhardt of Guilford and Linda Dawson Nace of Chandler, Arizona, and sister-in-law Patricia Cullinan Dawson of Cheshire.  He will be missed by dozens of adoring nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, as well as his friends at Gardenbrook Manor in Watertown.

A family service will be held at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Southbury on Friday, September 21 at 1:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Western Connecticut Mental Health Network Client Fund, 95 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury, Connecticut 06702.
