Joan (Sullivan) Barrett


          WATERTOWN -Joan (Sullivan) Barrett, 90, of Waterbury, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Apple Rehab in Watertown. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Barrett, Jr.

          Mrs. Barrett was born in Baltimore, MD on July 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Johnson) Sullivan. She moved to Waterbury as a young child and was a graduate of Crosby High School.

          She is survived by her three children, Patrice Barrett of Middletown, Jennifer Delaney and her husband Peter of Waterbury, John Barrett and his wife Corina of Massachusetts, four sisters, Alice Guerrera of Woodbury, Barbara Cavanaugh and Helen Anderson of Waterbury, Brenda Snyder of Amston, CT and her brother James Sullivan of Rhode Island. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Reid Delaney, Hunter Delaney, Carson Delaney, Marin Delaney, Ana Barrett and Ioan Barrett, and many nieces and nephews.

          She was predeceased by five brothers, Frank, John, William, Robert and Richard Sullivan and two sisters, MaryLou Sullivan and Kathleen Harris.

          Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street, to the Basilica of The Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

          In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in the honor of the deceased to St. Vincent DePaul Society of Waterbury, PO Box 1612, Waterbury, CT 06721.
