Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother
WATERBURY- June (Northrop) Colgan, 74, of Waterbury died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Vitas Inpatient Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of William A. Colgan, Sr.
June was born in Waterbury, June, 18, 1945 daughter of the late William Northrop, Sr. and Emma (Adamchick) Northrop. She was a lifelong Waterbury resident and resided in the Waterville section of Waterbury for most of her life and graduated from Sprague Grammar School and Wilby High School.
June formerly had worked at Sprague Grammar School as a lunch aide and also as a title searcher at Gager and Henry and was currently employed at Schmidts & Serafines True Value in Waterbury.
June enjoyed following UConn Women’s Huskies Basketball, the Boston Red Sox, loved to travel and looked forward to spending winters in Florida with her husband Bill. She loved watching her children and grandchildren in all their school activities and sporting events.
June was a former communicant of St. Margaret Church and a current parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church where she was a Lector and had taught CCD classes.
Besides her husband Bill, June is survived by her son, William A. Colgan, Jr. and his wife Marion and her daughter, Mary Colgan both of Waterbury, 2 granddaughters, Nora Anne and Katherine Grace Colgan and her brother, Robert Northrop and his wife Phyllis of Farview Heights, Il.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Christopher W. Colgan and 7 siblings, Joyce Rosa, Laurian Baranoski, Kneilland Northrop, William Northrop, Rudy Northrop, Lucille Chicoine and Lois Benfer who died on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Saint Mary’s Hospital..
Funeral will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 9 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to St. Francis Xavier Church, 626 Baldwin Street for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
