Leslie J. Payton
WATERBURY- Leslie J. Payton, 64, of Waterbury died peacefully at home on Wednesday August 7, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Sharon (Lavigne) Payton.
Leslie was born in Waterbury June 18, 1955 son of Edward J. and Alice (Fuller) Payton. He was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and graduated from Kaynor Technical School in 1974.
Leslie worked as a machinist at various businesses and was currently employed at Sikorsky Lockheed Martin.
He loved animals and being outdoors, enjoyed hiking, canoeing, fishing and traveling, especially trips to Lake Tahoe.
Leslie was an unassuming, quiet and kind hearted unselfish generous man. He had been a communicant of SSPP church.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter, Stacie Payton-Cohen and her husband Cory, his sisters, Deborah Sullivan and her husband Kevin and Pamela Sugrue and her husband John. His brother, Craig Payton and his wife Laura and his mother in law, Helen Lavigne. Leslie also is survived by 6 nieces and 1 nephew and many friends and coworkers.
The Payton family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Sabbath and the staff at the Harold Leever Cancer Center for the care that they provided to Leslie during his illness.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street. Friends may call at the funeral on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
