Loving, Wife, Mother and Grandmother 

          THOMASTON- Lois (Northrop) Benfer, 79, of Thomaston died Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the Vitas Inpatient Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Richard “Dick” Benfer.

          Lois was born in Waterbury, October 10, 1940 daughter of the late William Northrop, Sr. and Emma (Adamchick) Northrop. She formerly resided in Waterbury, graduated from Sprague Grammar School and Wilby High School and later settled in Thomaston in 2003.

          Lois had worked as an Administrative Assistant at both St. Mary’s and Waterbury Hospitals.

          Lois loved to travel all over the world and spend winters in Florida with her husband Dick. She enjoyed local theater and musicals, spending time with her grandchildren and watching all their sporting events.

          Lois was a parishioner of Saint Maximillian Kolbe Parish in Thomaston.

          Besides her husband Dick, Lois is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ieronimo) Putman and her husband Daniel Putman of Coventry, her son, Steven Ieronimo of Orlando, Florida and her daughter, Dana (Ieronimo) Kahn and her husband Jeffery Kahn of Thomaston, 7 grandchildren, Aaron, Avery and Morgan Putman, TJ and William Ieronimo, Jared and Emma Kahn and her brother, Robert Northrop and his wife Phyllis of Farview Heights, IL

          She was predeceased by her 7 siblings, Joyce Rosa, Laurian Baranoski, Kneilland Northrop, William Northrop, Rudy Northrop, Lucille Chicoine and June Colgan.         

          Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Saint Maximillian Kolbe Parish (St. Thomas Church) 1 East Main Street in Thomaston. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street in Waterbury on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
