Lucy M. (Guarrera) Wolff



            Mrs. Lucy M. (Guarrera) Wolff, 95, died on Jan. 8, 2013 at Abbott Terrace Health Center in Waterbury.  She was the wife of the late Edward A. Wolff.
            She was born on September 2, 1917, in Waterbury, daughter of Antonio and Josephine (Incoronato) Guarrera.  Lucy grew up in Waterbury and attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Sacred Heart High School, where she was the valedictorian of the class of 1935.  Many years later she returned to school at Mattatuck Community College and earned an Associate degree in 1991.  She was employed at Scovill Mfg. Co., where she met her husband and worked until the birth of her first child.  She stayed home to raise her children for 17 years, then returned to the work force, and was the receptionist for Robert E. Mellon’s law firm until her retirement.  She was active over many years in her church organizations; the Sacred Heart Church Mother’s Club, and the Madonna Guild and Legion of Mary at SS Peter and Paul Church.  She was also a volunteer in past years for Literacy Volunteers.  She was devoted to her family.
           She is survived by her five children, Anne (John) Rich of Stamford, Edward Wolff of Adamstown, MD, Katherine (Tim) Upson of Waterbury, Robert (Mary) Wolff of Sherborn, MA, and Vincent (Martha Young) Wolff of Mountain View, CA.  She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, John (Nicole Demers) Corcoran of Cheshire, James (Elpiniki Velezis) Corcoran of New Haven, Matthew (Rebecca) Corcoran of Watertown, Stephen (Terri Minogue) Rich of Stamford, John Wolff of Sherborn, MA, Douglas Wolff of Arlington, VA, Alice Wolff and Laura Wolff of Mountain View, CA.  She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Simon, Jack, Heath and Faye Corcoran.  She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her granddaughter, Carolyn Rich.  She was also pre-deceased by her many sisters and brothers, Concetta Wigmore, Alexander Guarrera, Frances Powers, Ann Moher, Mary McCormack, Susan Guarrera, and Vincent Guarrera.
           The funeral will be Saturday January 12, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street for a Mass at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in Old St. Joseph Cemetery.  Calling hours are Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
