Martha Patricia Brady-Labbe





          WATERBURY- Martha Patricia Brady-Labbe, 64, passed away January 26, 2014 peacefully in her childhood home in Waterbury surrounded by family and friends.  She was the widow of Ronald Labbe.
          Martha was born in Niagara Falls, NY, May 16, 1949, daughter of the late David F. and Virginia (Skorupski) Brady and immediately moved to Waterbury.  She attended St. Francis Xavier and St. Margaret’s Elementary Schools, and Waterbury Catholic High School.  She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BS in Education and a Master’s Degree in Reading. 
          Martha was a Waterbury school teacher having taught at her beloved Hopeville School for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed gardening at her Hartford home as well as to the entry to Hopeville School. 
          Shopping was a sport that she excelled in with her constant training. Martha loved Christmas where her generosity knew no bounds. She loved to travel, especially to Michigan to visit family and friends during summer vacations. 
          She was a member of the Waterbury Elks Lodge #265 and a charter member of the Waterbury Emblem Club #552. She was president of the Woman’s Elks Bowling League where she was a member for more than 35 years. 
          She leaves behind 3 sisters, Charlotte Brady of Waterbury with whom she lived during her illness, Sheila Carlson and her husband Greg of MN, Virginia Brady and her husband Ed Girard of NM. 4 brothers, Michael Brady and his wife Linda of Waterbury, David Brady and his wife JoAnne of Niantic, James Brady and his wife Becky of OH, and Lawrence Brady of New London. Also her nieces and nephews, Courtney, John, Erin, Sarah, Matthew, Gwenne, Jennifer, Andrew, Tracy, Max, Jack, and her Aunt Dolly of MI, and her true friend Mary Rice. Her step children, Kenneth, Cherilyn, and Lisa, and numerous cousins and friends. Martha was predeceased by her brother, John Brady.
          Funeral will be held Thursday January 30 at 9:30 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to St. Margaret Church, 289 Willow Street for a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
