          WATERBURY- Maureen (Finnegan) Nuerakis, 78, of Waterbury, died Saturday September 1, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Ernest A. Nuerakis.

          Mrs. Nuerakis was born in Waterbury on March 27, 1940 daughter of the late William and Mary Ellen (Fram) Finnegan and was a life long resident of Waterbury. She was a graduate of both St. Thomas Grammar School where she was the class Valedictorian and Sacred Heart High School.

          Maureen retired as a Payroll Clerk from Waterbury Hospital where she had worked for many years. She loved her trips to the casinos, shopping, and luncheons with her lifelong girlfriends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.

          Mrs. Nuerakis was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Parish for many years.

          Maureen is survived by her 6 daughters, Linda Spooner and her husband Keith of Wolcott, Susan Giglio and her husband John of Newtown, Lori Nuerakis of Waterbury, Shari Mendillo and her husband John of Watertown, Maureen Keeley and her husband Jim of Waterbury and Hope Petrarca and her husband Brian of Waterbury. 12 grandchildren, Christopher, Brianna and Brandon Giglio, Stephen Barone, Nicole Ingala, Billy Nuerakis, Nikko Mendillo, Kaitlynn and Erin Keeley, and Gillian, Zachary and Cecelia Patrarca. Also 2 greatgrandchildren, Brenton and Brayden DaSilva.

          She also leaves 2 sisters, Patricia Ksiazkowski and Kathy Matthews both of Kensington, her brother, William Finnegan of Waterbury and her goddaughter, Julie Fernandes of Berlin.

          Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to SS. Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road for a Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
