WOLCOTT – Raphelina “Rae” Bianco, 96, died Monday, November 16, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family.
Ms. Bianco was born in Waterbury, April 15, 1924, daughter of the late John and Anna (Manfredi) Bianco and graduated from Walsh Elementary School and Wilby High School, where she was an honor student. She also graduated from the Comptometer School of Waterbury and served as the Associate Manager for the Prudential Insurance Company of Waterbury and later West Hartford for over 30 years.
Rae was an active retiree and traveled extensively with her many friends, Gene, Joe and Mary, Ida, Dorothy, Marie, Doris, Mark and Betty and also with the Gadabouts. She visited Europe several times along with many sites in the United States. She loved NYC and saw many plays on Broadway. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish and participated in Church run parties and trips.
She is survived by her brother, Louis Bianco and his wife Marie, and sisters, Elvira Massaro and Anne Begnal. She was affectionately known as Rae-Rae to her nieces and nephews; Anne Marie Cullinan and her husband Ned, Patti Russell and her husband Kevin, Cindy Jackson and her husband Robert, Joe Begnal and his wife Terry, Luanne Salcito and her husband Joe, Judy McGuire, Gina Porter and her husband David, grand nieces and nephews; Chris, Courtney, Joe, Ryan, Andrew, Jennifer, Jillian, Breanna, Joey, Arianne, Andrew, Jessica, Juli, Kelsey, and Jacob, and great grand nieces and nephews; Sara, Jack, Bradan, Eloise, Maelie, Isla, Leyton, Talia and Teagan Lyn. She also leaves a cousin, Rosemary Delano, with whom she was very close.
She was devoted to her nieces and nephews and never missed a birthday, graduation, athletic event, play, dance recital, party or wedding.
Rae was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Rocky Massaro and Joe Begnal and a cousin, Connie Iacovone.

The funeral will be Saturday November 21, 2020 at 10:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., Waterbury to St. Michael Church, 62 St. Michael Drive for a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in MT Olivet Cemetery Watertown. Calling hour is Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Face coverings and social distancing are required.
