Raymond Q. O'Neil, Jr.

          Waterbury - Raymond Quinn O’Neil, Jr. 51, died suddenly on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St Mary’s Hospital.

          He was born in Milford on July 15, 1969 to the late Kathleen (Feeley) (O’Neil) Barry and the late Raymond Quinn O’Neil, Sr. He leaves behind his father, Paul S. Barry of Waterbury, with whom he made his home, his sister Morgan Barry of Waterbury, and his brother Parker S. Barry of Port St Lucie FL. He was predeceased by his mother Kathleen, his father Raymond and his brother Prescott.

          Raymond graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1987 where he was a championship swimmer and held several state records.  He then attended Southern Connecticut State University. He worked in various restaurants in Waterbury, Nantucket, and Vermont until he attended Culinary School in 1997.  After Culinary School he relocated to Newport, Rhode Island where he worked at the Newport Marriott for many years as well as the Newport Regatta Club and Belle Mer. He moved back to Waterbury in 2007 and worked for the last 10 years at Pine Manor.

          Ray enjoyed cooking, entertaining, music and concerts and spending time with friends and family. Ray truly had a heart of gold. His smile, sense of humor and outlook on life will be missed dearly by those who were lucky enough to know him.

          Graveside services will be held Monday September 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main St., Waterbury with the Very Rev. James M. Sullivan officiating.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery office and you will be directed to the gravesite. The Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. is in charge of arrangements.
