SNET Retiree / Loved to travel

WOLCOTT - Ruth Alice Dodson Baker died September 07, 2019 in her "comfortable little house" she and her late husband, Harry J. Baker built together in 1948 with help from both fathers, Clarence F. Dodson and George T. Baker, Sr. She was surrounded by her Girls.

Ruth was born April 06, 1927 to the late Clarence and Adah Dodson in Newburgh, NY. She spent her younger years in Shickshinny, PA. and graduated from Wilby High School, Waterbury. Ruth and Harry married in 1947 after meeting at a Hamilton Park Pavilion dance. She was employed by SNET in Waterbury before and after her Girls were born. She retired after more than 25 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed extensive European travels, annual hops over to Block Island, her convertibles, the sun, and relaxing dinners at Mona Lisa Restaurant.

Her survivors include daughters: Mary A. Baker, Wolcott; Ruth C. Baker Tabor (Dr. George Tabor), Encino, CA; Joan M. Baker, Block Island, RI; Granddaughter Sarah E. Ethridge, Wolcott; son-in-law James M. Ethridge IV and niece, Joyce A. Smith; also, many very dear and special Baker family nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was pre-deceased by her brother, Chapin Dodson and sister, Mary D. Smith.

The family would like to thank Watertown VNA and VITAS Staffs for their kindness. Jeanne Fontano's Peaceful guidance in Ruth's transition will light our hearts forever.

Private services will be held at a later date. The Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow ST., Waterbury is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, Donations in Ruth's memory to our friends at: Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 6066, Wolcott, CT. 06716 would be greatly appreciated.
