          WATERBURY – Sister Ann M. Moore, C.N.D., 94, of Waterbury passed away February 8, 2021 surrounded by her family at the Vitas Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.             

          Sister Ann was born in Waterbury, December 19, 1926, daughter of the late Thomas F. & Margaret C. (Scully) Moore.  She was the granddaughter of the late Martin Scully who was a former Mayor of Waterbury.  She graduated from Kingsbury Grammar School, Waterbury Catholic High School, Class of 1944 and the College of New Rochelle.  She also had Advanced Degrees in Education.  She received her first profession into the Congregation of Notre Dame on August 23, 1951 and her final profession on August 12, 1957.

          Sister Ann spent her life in the field of education having worked in Illinois, New York, Connecticut, Fall River MA and Boston MA.  After a number of years teaching, she served as Principal at St. Jean High School in New York City and Notre Dame Academy in Ridgefield, CT.  She was Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Fall River and Boston.  She also served for 10 years as an Educational Consultant at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford.  Up until 2019 Sister Ann was a consultant for new teachers at Mercy High School in Middletown.

          Besides her Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame she is survived by her close nieces and nephew, Thomas Moore of Maui, HI, Kathleen Donohue of Holliston, MA, Patricia Carroll of Jericho, VT, Margaret Carpenter of Branford, CT and Eileen Burton of Carolina, RI and many grand nieces and nephews.

          Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of MT. Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave., Waterbury, CT 06708.  Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Danbury.  The Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., Waterbury is assisting with arrangements.

          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Congregation of Notre Dame, 30 Highfield Rd, Wilton, CT 06897.
